Common Questions
FAQ
Permanent placement fees are invoiced upon the crew member's start date, net 14 days. Daywork billing runs weekly. Emergency rush fees are invoiced at the time of placement confirmation. We accept wire transfer and major credit cards. No deposit required to begin searching.
If a permanently placed crew member leaves or is let go within 90 days of their start date for performance-related reasons, CrewPort will run a replacement search at no additional placement fee. You only pay the standard 15% on the replacement crew member's salary. The guarantee covers one replacement per original placement.
Pricing is identical for charter and private vessels. The only difference is timeline expectations — charter programs often need crew placements coordinated around season schedules, while private yachts tend to operate on a more rolling basis. We're experienced with both and can structure the search timeline accordingly.
All crew are verified for valid STCW certification, flag state endorsements (where applicable), work authorization, and references from prior vessels. We conduct a direct interview with every crew member before recommending them. For senior officer positions, we also verify sea time documentation. You receive a complete crew package before any introduction.
Yes — and it's the most common path for captains who want to evaluate crew before committing. If you hire a daywork crew member permanently within 90 days of their last daywork assignment, the permanent placement fee is discounted: we credit 50% of daywork margin already paid against the 15% permanent fee. The math always works in your favor.
